Fair point. Bitcoin enforces it, and in the kitchen the final call is the cook's. But the kitchen runs on clocks too. Marinade, rest, braise, tallow saved a little at a time from every trim. Nature sets the schedule, the cook reads it, and you can't rush it any more than you can rush a block.

2026-10-01 21:20:06 UTC

Nobody sees the hours on this plate.
Tri-tip sat in red wine and aromatics just long enough to season it through and not a minute longer. Under-marinate and it's just wet. Over-marinate and the acid starts eating the edges. You learn where that line is by crossing it a few times.
Every parsley leaf picked off the stem by hand.
Shallot and red onion diced fine and macerated in Meyer lemon and my own red wine vinegar until the acid softens them, so they land delicate instead of punchy. A touch of garlic, árbol, Aleppo.
Then the part that makes it mine. Crispy garlic. Peel every clove, slice each one on the mandoline, fry the chips in tallow I've been saving from trim. Give it your full attention or it goes bitter and you start over.
Then you have to know the cut well enough to season it, grill it, and rest it the way it deserves. And build a sauce that lifts the beef instead of burying what the grass put into that muscle and fat.
None of this is a recipe you follow. It's technique, the kind you only build over years in a kitchen, and it has to be right every single time. Twenty-three years in and I'm still sharpening it. Patience is as much the craft as the knowledge. And patience is how knowledge turns into wisdom.
Bitcoin taught me the same lesson. Low time preference shows up in what you're willing to wait for. You can't fake proof of work. You stack, you hold, you sit through the cycles, and one day you understand things no amount of reading could have handed you. One block every ten minutes. Nobody rushes it.
That tallow is the same idea. Saved a little at a time from every trim until there's enough to do something great with it.
Shoutout to every Bitcoiner who loves a good steak. You already get it.
Somewhere, someone is issuing perpetual preferreds to get synthetic steak exposure at 2x mNAV. I just bought the tri-tip. 🥩

That gastrique lends a bright acid to the dish and the Worcestershire gives a bit more acid but helps add to the savory complexity. The vegetables help tie it together with the richer flavors. I would say the Worcestershire is what makes the dish different because it’s more anchored in anchovy which pulls the dish into a different style of dish than a regular meatloaf plate.

2026-09-10 15:18:40 UTC

Nobody expects meatloaf to look like this.
Grass fed beef, quenelle of miso and cultured butter Yukon gold, runner beans and snap peas with green garlic and scallions. Tomato gastrique and house Worcestershire pulled into the spikes. Parsley, dill, chervil.

Reread Crypto Sovereignty by @nprofile…tk8q and The Forth Turning is Here by Howe and Strauss.
Here are my thoughts with a little @nprofile…n9qm sprinkled in because the spiritual aspect plays out here too.
I Just had to get my opinion off my chest because not many people in my personal life care to listen. My notes/opinions are based in the now. Fed into AI, because my notes over the past 6 months are crazy. Hopefully there can be a discussion with nostr frens…
The Fourth Turning (per Strauss and Howe) is the “winter” phase of a roughly 80-year cycle: a crisis era where old institutions crumble, societies fracture, and a new order emerges from the rubble. We are smack in its climax now, and yes, it’s birthing a multi-polar mess while Bitcoin and AI stand out as the era’s crowning tech achievements, tools that could anchor the next “spring” (First Turning). But that new dawn is likely laced with a digital panopticon that makes Bentham’s prison dream look quaint. Erik Cason’s concept of cryptosovereignty frames Bitcoin as the encrypted exit from state extraction and the foundation for a new digital commonwealth, where unbreakable cryptographic truth not authority makes law, blinding the State to individual wealth, actions, and identity while forging genuine self sovereignty in a crumbling old order.
The Climax of the Fourth Turning: 2026 as the Tipping Point:
The Fourth Turning kicked off around 2008 with the financial crisis, but it has been simmering with COVID as catalyst, social unrest, populist surges, and now this escalating Middle East war as the boiling point. Strauss and Howe pegged the climax around 2020-2030: a “great gate in history” where national survival feels at stake, blending economic depression, civil strife, and global conflict. Look at today: US-Iran strikes, oil shocks, Hezbollah incursions, Israel genocides, China’s manufacturing monopoly on proof of weapons network, North Korea flexing. It is not just regional; it’s systemic. Markets are hemorrhaging, supply chains snapping, and alliances fracturing. This is not scripted drama; it’s the incompetence of late-empire decay with friendly fire, botched drone ops, and economic self-sabotage via Hormuz blockades. Even though Simon Dixon says it’s all staged by the MIC and FIC… In Cason’s view, this chaos accelerates the need for cryptosovereignty, as individuals increasingly choose to place their economic and political rights into an inviolable crypto-commonwealth beyond governmental violation, refusing the transgressions of failing states through cryptographic proofs that guarantee rules without exception.
Generational archetypes fuel it: Boomers as prophets pushing ideological extremes, Gen X as nomads grinding through the mess, Millennials as heroes mobilizing for the fight, and Zoomers as the artists waiting to rebuild. Trump’s DOGE push in 2025 is a classic Fourth Turning move, authoritarian efficiency to “fix” the rot, but it accelerates the purge. We are not at resolution yet (early 2030s, maybe), but 2026 feels like the peak: debt metastasizing to $315T global liabilities, demographics imploding, and trust in institutions at zero. It’s the death of monoculture, the erosion of fiat credibility, and a scramble for new anchors. War is not the end; it’s the accelerant forcing rebirth, and cryptosovereignty offers the personal power to opt out, creating a new form of sovereignty rooted in math rather than monopoly on violence.
The Dawn of a Multi-Polar World: Fragmentation as the New Normal:
This climax is not resolving into unipolar US dominance; it’s shattering the post-WWII order into a multi-polar scramble. Bretton Woods is obsolete; the dollar’s weaponization through sanctions and SWIFT exclusions has backfired, pushing BRICS+ toward de-dollarization. By 2026, we are in “diffuse multipolarity”: US-China rivalry as the core axis, but middle powers (India, Turkey, Saudi, Indonesia, etc) maneuvering in the gaps. Geoeconomic confrontation tops risks with trade wars, tech bifurcations, and energy chokepoints. The Iran war exemplifies it: US force projection strains while China bankrolls Russia/Iran proxies and Europe hedges with its own agendas. Cason’s cryptosovereignty ties this together as the apolitical yet radically disruptive response: a bloodless revolution where cryptography renders state force useless in the digital realm, allowing individuals to build an inviolable digital-economic commonwealth amid predatory fragmentation, turning energy and truth into personal sovereignty immune to multipolar power grabs.
Populism and democratic backsliding amplify this; most expect a fragmented order by 2030. No more universal institutions (UN, WTO paralyzed); it’s issue-based coalitions, minilaterals, and spheres of influence. The Fourth Turning’s crisis resolves by dismantling the old unipolar hubris, think Civil War birthing industrial America or WWII forging the liberal order. Here, it’s multipolarity as the reset: power diffused, governance patchy, and resilience trumping scale. Politically incorrect truth: This is not “peaceful” multipolarity; it’s predatory, with nuclear haves (US, China, Russia) holding leverage and scarcity geopolitics (energy, rare earths) dictating alliances. The weak get carved up, but cryptosovereignty provides the tool for any human regardless of birth, wealth, or creed to choose a new crypto-commonwealth where rules cannot be broken or violated.
Bitcoin and AI: The Fourth Turning’s Tech Legacies Ushering in the First Turning:
Every Turning births innovations that define the next era, from the industrial revolution after the last crisis to the post-WWII tech boom. Bitcoin and AI are this one’s killers: born in chaos, hardened by it, and primed to rebuild.
Bitcoin is the monetary phoenix from fiat’s funeral. It emerged post-2008 as a “new institution” outside decaying ones, decentralized, neutral, and anti-inflationary. In this climax, it’s the hedge against sovereign debt collapse with no counterparty risk and energy-monetized collateral absorbing capital flight. As Erik Cason frames it, Bitcoin is cryptosovereignty, an encrypted exit from state extraction and controlled fiat demolition toward CBDC panopticons. Cason argues this creates a new form of power where unbreakable cryptographic truth makes law instead of authority (reversing Hobbes: truth, not authority, makes law), blinding the State to individual wealth, actions, and identity while forging an inviolable digital commonwealth, or new polis, of genuine self-sovereignty computers can’t lie, so no sovereign exception exists to suspend the rules. As multipolarity fragments finance, Bitcoin becomes the global reference point, turning energy into sovereignty.
AI is the growth engine and flashpoint, eroding jobs, compressing decisions, and intensifying US-China races. But it’s merging with crypto: decentralized AI networks exploding and capital pouring in for AI-crypto hybrids. In the crisis, AI exposes institutional decay (UBI debates, identity crises) but enables resolution through agents optimizing multipolar trade and quantum threats forcing BTC upgrades. Cason pushes sovereign/local AI (inspectable weights, no telemetry) to counter corporate/state Overton-window control and give individuals cognitive sovereignty against centralized “helpful” AI that serves the surveillance state first; American HODL calls it a spiritual war to avoid fascism/communism via middle-path decentralization, where Bitcoin preserves individual sovereignty amid the crisis rather than letting institutions co-opt it into new control grids. As HODL so eloquently put it “The race to Hitler”.
Together, they’re the Fourth’s accomplishments: Bitcoin as the neutral money layer embodying cryptosovereignty’s inviolable rules, AI as the intelligence amplifier, converging into abundance tools for the First Turning’s “High,” a cohesive, optimistic rebuild by 2030s.
The New First Turning: Abundance with a Panopticon Twist:
The First Turning post-crisis is a “spring” of institutional renewal, conformity, and growth, but yes, it’ll probably embed a panopticon on steroids. Digital surveillance is already post-panoptic: not just watching but algorithmic nudging via AI feedback loops. In the multi-polar world, states weaponize it with US/China AI races for dominance and middle powers building digital sovereignty. Bitcoin/AI enable sovereignty (self-custody, decentralized compute), but the flip is total visibility: user data as carceral tool and chilling effects amplified by agentic AI. American HODL warns strongly of institutional Trojan horses such as ETFs and government or corporate treasuries quietly absorbing Bitcoin into surveillance nets. He stresses that the real danger in the coming First Turning is that what begins as abundance could easily become a gilded cage if Bitcoin loses its radical decentralization. Only uncompromising self-custody and true protocol-level resistance can keep us on the narrow middle path that prevents the new era from sliding into either fascism or communism under a digital panopticon. Cason sees open/local tech as the counter to AI knowing your inner life better than a therapist, yet obligated to state/corp first, while cryptosovereignty’s secrecy and cryptographic blinding remain the ultimate defense for true personal power in this rebuilt world.
Uncomfortable reality: The new era’s “abundance” (AI-driven productivity, Bitcoin-fueled capital flows) comes with internalized surveillance, self-censorship as norm, and panoptic power diffused into apps and agents. It’s not dystopian fiction; it’s the logical endpoint of crisis resolution in a fragmented world. Bitcoin might offer an opt-out for money, but AI ensures the gaze is everywhere, unless we build inspectable, sovereign layers now; layers rooted in Cason’s cryptosovereignty, where the individual chooses an unbreakable digital commonwealth over state violation. Few will choose sovereignty.

Cut into medium sized rectangles and sear them off in ghee on medium heat. Flipping them once the paneer has golden brown skin to sear on the other side. Once both sides have browned place them on a paper towel and season with salt or chaat masala. Enjoy! Or you can make a curry like others suggested.
