We describe processed foods to our 3 year old as traps (sugar being addictive) and we are the “(real) food detectives”. Not that anyone wants to deliberately harm kids but that it’s not the manufacturers job to ensure we’re healthy and that a lot of people don’t care and/or don’t know and it’s our job to know and make the right choices for us.
I think it’s useful for them to know that their parents (and later them) are in charge of their health, that that’s within their control, and that they can learn as soon as they can read what real ingredients are and ditch the rest. Fake food doesn’t get inside our home.
Part of the reality of the world you live in is that being in good health is not given, and it’s not even easy without a whole lot of learning.
Wild nature has its dangers and so does the free market led by flawed people.
Knowledge is power.

One of the hardest parts about becoming free is the goodbyes.
Some people don’t want to be on that ship with you because they’ve never been truly in charge of their lives, some people don’t belong on that ship with you because their only mode of being is coercion and their only fuel is fear, some people couldn’t live with the responsibility of fighting for freedom.
You’ll watch quite a few of your people stay stuck behind you as you move forward.
There’s plenty of good in the world and, in time, your ship will be as full as you need it to be. But until then –or, really, even then – they’ll come to mind. Those books might be closed but they’re still there on the shelf. You will see them, you will hear them, you will miss them, it will hurt, and it will be okay.
You can only write your story and if you’re lucky the beginning of some little ones’ stories. And that is the best use of your existence, to live your very, very own story, one that would have never played out the way it did without all of your fights, losses and victories.
It’s the only way and it’s so worth it. 🧡

The older I get, the more I grow to deeply admire every person who loves well.
There is a cure for nearly every way that a person can be broken, and that is to be completely, truly, abundantly, unconditionally loved.
If you’ve gotten that from anyone at all, at any age, you’re a lucky one and I’m deeply happy that you carry that love with you through life. ✨
If you’re one of those lovers – love of any kind, that is – thank you for being you, and for making lives, and the world warmer, wider, lighter and more robust.
To loving better. 🥂🧡

I should get better at taking note of the recipes I make up, I did not for this one (was just having fun 🧑‍🎨), but it’s one of those that are really forgiving and easy to tell when you’ve got a good mix by the consistency.
I used approximately:
1 cup of pure cacao butter
1 cup walnuts
1 1/2 cups macadamia nuts
1/3 cup flaxseeds
4 organic eggs
2 ripe bananas
1 scoop of Levels grass-fed whey (it works wonderfully in baked goods)
1 tspn of vanilla extract
cinnamon and nutmeg to taste
1/2 tspn baking powder
And feel free to use a bit of your preferred sweetener if it taste like it needs more (I added a splash of maple syrup towards the end).
Bake at 350 for about 25 minutes or until a knife comes out clean.
Bon appétit. ✨

2024-08-12 14:21:23 UTC

One of the most heartbreaking consequences of fiat money is that a lot of people are incapable of receiving genuine, pure love (of any kind).
Most relationships they’ve ever had had to be very high time preference. If there’s no agenda to the care and effort, they reject it as a suspected threat. They believed that, unless someone wants something from them, no one has time to generously spend with them and make them feel appreciated. For the pure sake of love.
Everyone must be underwater trying to get by. That’s how the modern times work, right?
Fiat money masterfully suffocates the abundance out of love.
I’m reminded of this every single time I meet someone new who isn’t a bitcoiner: if I come to them ready to give, they take their distance and go back to their shell in a matter of days. Bitcoiners know better. 🧡
Fuck fiat love. 🚮

I find it fascinating that we’re all somewhat private by definition. You won’t ever know yourself fully in any given moment and you’re infinite and ever-changing, let alone any other completely independent being grasping who you are fully.
Few things are more beautiful in life than to feel seen and truly known as profoundly as the external and internal universes would allow. But I’m just here romanticizing that 3% of me and you that no one, absolutely no one, will ever know.

Summer is late and I haven’t got time, so I made some paleo lemon blueberry bars with a heavenly texture. 🍋🫐
Close enough to the real thing for now. 🏝️

Such unhelpful expectations to have, to put it gently.

If there was a way to fully unlearn Romanticism, everyone who wants a lover would be happily living with a good enough one.

Bonjour, Nostr. ☀️
Today’s note to self:
We don’t need more, we just need to see more in what is already there.
Like Renaissance artists stared at a two lemons or a pear for hours noticing everything it could ever have to give, I’m working on cultivating my sense of awe, slowing down and learning to see things as though I had never layed eyes on them before.
We can add so much wonder and color to our life if we only let ourselves be amused in a slightly new way every time, by the things we’ve seen so many times we otherwise wouldn’t even notice.
Indulge in awe. ✨

Never smoked it. If that’s what you’re high on, I have much to learn. 🪁

If you have someone who would stick with you through anything, highs and hollows, hills and heavens and hell and back, you’re rich beyond measure.
