As long as it's not on the base layer, I think this is still okay. I think everything will eventually become a digital token anyway, that's inevitable.
But all of this should indeed not be implemented blindly

2026-06-26 17:17:30 UTC

In principle, I’m not against NFT's or other tokens or anything like that.
It doesn’t really matter to me, I’m not interested in it, it’s garbage.
Live and let live, who am I to decide what’s allowed and what isn’t?
But don’t do this on the base layer, create a second layer for that and keep Bitcoin simple!

Het zijn alleen maar woorden
En schelden doet geen pijn
Doe is niet zo opgefokt
Zou veel relaxter zijn
Het uiten van je mening
Is het allerhoogste goed
Dat is juist iets wat haat ontlaadt
En niet wat woede voedt
Laat iedereen nou zeggen
Wat-ie voelt en wat-ie denkt
Ook al wil dat dan soms zeggen
Dat je wordt gekrenkt

I bought an Umbrel myself about a year and a half ago. The first app I installed was Bitcoin Core; it took less than 24 hours to sync with a standard Telenet subscription. But I hadn't installed any other apps that interact with Bitcoin Core. From what I've read, it looks like it will be fine (soon) :-)
I love the convenience that Umbrel, or Start9, offers; it's much better than running it on a separate pc. fyi, I'm currently running Bitcoin Knots.
Good luck!!

I switched to Knots last weekend.
1) My Lightning node still works perfectly with all channels; other than pointing it to Knots, I didn’t have to do anything.
2) I re-synced the whole chain. I did see an article explaining how you can reuse the existing chain, but I didn’t try that – although it should be possible.
3) Yes, Electrs works with Knots
I synced the blockchain from scratch while my Core node was still running. Then I stopped Core and had my apps point to Knots. Easy to do on Umbrel: just change the node setting inside each app.
