Why are local cons advertising the Yaoi? I though it was under the table stuff.

I was giving a guest lecture there last month. Never been to Aus Monash, but Malaysian Monash is up to international standard. But standards have been slipping everywhere, so take that as ypu will.
Not so sure about the variety of course offerings, I'm guessing it's less because Malaysian Monash is a private university and has to offer courses that it can profit from.

Pest control is not zero pests. Pests can have a bit of a crop. In a healthy ecosystem pests exist, but you can keep them below a level where they are harmful. Maintaining a stable population of pests that do a little damage is better than extremely damaging population booms and busts.

2) Food should be delicious
One of the best indicators of soil health and plant resistance is how food tastes. A healthy plant produces a lot of secondary metabolites that resist pests and diseases. There are high tech ways to evaluating this, but how it tastes on your plate works just as well.

After a lot of thought, here are my 3 principles of Integrated Pest Management:
We live in a community
Food should be delicious

1) We live in a community:
Any farm is part of a larger whole that includes microbes, soil organisms and the wider ecosystem that.it is embedded in. It is embedded in place and land is never empty.

The Malaysian Government is looking into adopting Regenerative Agriculture for food security purposes. Looks like the high price of inputs is the inflection point. Even some palm oil companies are beginning to make the shift and experimenting. But the main challenge is supplying the expertise to do it. Implementation is going to be a challenge.
The politicians are idiots as usual, but the adults in the room are doing their jobs.

I thought it was one of the best Iron Man movies and it was quite divisive when it came out. You either hated it or loved it. But it was a self-contained send off to the pre-Avenger Iron man and after that he took off as "Iron Man leader of the Avengers". So Marvel fans just don't talk about it. It just doesn't fit the current MCU.

I've been thinking about how pollinators fuel a whole ecosystem of predators. They're pretty to look at and all, but the sheer volume of bees that move around flowering patches mean that there is a constant stable food source to sustain insectivore predator populations. That's the principle behind companion planting, but I'm not sure if there has been any ecological studies mapping out these interactions. (Maybe there is and I haven't dug deep enough into the literature)

I am in an country that was colonised by the UK, and we think we're better off than what's going on over there. I wonder why they are still so delusional about being still being an empire.
But economically, we still have the same colonial system, it's just that the shareholders are now in Singapore instead of London. Same extractivism, just slightly different skin color.

Is there any theological explaination for the extremely large number of beetle species? In any religion.

I think using "The West" as a frame actually obscures what happened with postcolonialism in an economic sense. What's going on in Europe is very different from the Americas.
I'm in a global south postcolonial country, and we have adopted the same extractivist imperialist policies. Just applied to our own countries and near neighbours. The power structures of colonialism still exist, Postcolonialism was just the local elite seizing colonial power.

I think it would have worked better if it was half the movie that we got. There was too much meandering B plot.
But after TLJ I was done with Star Wars. It reminded me too much of the long draggy overstuffed Prequels. At that point Star Wars had so many misses that I gave up on the franchise.

I think there is something wrong with calling Singaporean public housing Punk.
It's definitely a livable space with lots of integrated greenary. But it arrives through Authoritarianism and a lot of top-down social engineering. SolarAuthoritarianism

AI written business plans are the worst. They are so generic and contextless that they are difficult to implement on the ground. Also all your other AI driven competitors have the same plan, it's the most average most probable plan.

one use case for generative AI is to constantly post subtly edited photos of yourself on the internet. Just move your features closer or further apart to mess with the biometric data they are keeping on you. Fill the room with shit.

Lancelets are eaten in South China, I've found videos of them being harvested but I can't find any of the dishes.
I seem to recall some 19th century Palaeontologists experimenting with eating them too. They are certainly edible.

I was teaching a workshop on Integrated Pest Management to some farmers. The problem with IPM is that when it works you don't see any problems. A lot of conventional agriculture focuses on solving infestation problems instead of addressing the root causes and preventing the problem from occuring.

Maybe a smaller freezer designed to make just ice cubes would require less watts.
A team of normal people cycling on shifts would probably be able to do it. But they have to keep it up until the water freezes (in my experience it usually takes at least an hour).
