Take care of yourself, your family and then your community. In that order.
One of the toughest lessons learned: playing a hero and saving others (some of whom don’t even want to save themselves) while running on low battery ends up ugly. Would not recommend.
Reflecting and recalibrating.

Bitcoin needs more feminine energy. This is not about gender per se. It’s not a men vs women thing because we need both sides to make it work and both genders have feminine and masculine qualities. The assertive, logical, & aggressive approach was necessary in the early stages, but now we need more empathetic , nurturing and collaborative movement to sustain.

1. focus on their craft 👌
2. disappear 👤
3. engage in some sort of shitcoinery affair💩
or
4. contribute to the infrastructure 🫡

I bet you could not convince many non-technical people about internet's potential by explaining the TCP/IP protocols.
That's how I feel explaining difficulty adjustment or mining ... 😅
Most don't care to understand, and that's fine. Many think internet = the app on their phone and they don't question what's underneath. I don't blame them. That's when I like to take things down to the deepest level.... like the bottom of the ocean.
When someone told me about submarine cables making global internet possible, I did not believe them. 🤣 I thought my video calls travelled through ummm.... clouds ☁️ or radio waves?🥴 Honestly? I did not care to question. All that mattered: I could video chat with my family across the planet for very cheap. It was a no brainer.
I like to use this example when people tune out: 'Did you know about giant cables on the bottom of the ocean connecting continents?' It's always fun to watch the reaction and discussions that follow.

East or west, home is best.
I spent half of my life in Central Asia, another half in North America. Now temporarily located somewhere in between.
I just visited Kazakhstan after a long while, and boy oh boy … the tables turned.
I really struggle to point where home is on the map, but two things crystallized for me:
1. You cannot run away from yourself
2. Home is where my loved ones are.

Someone needs to orange-pill Macklemore, so he can spend his energy on his craft and stop wasting it on fighting politics... This song is underrated.
"Now, this is my job, I will not quit it
Pulled me out the depths when I thought that I was finished
Yeah I questioned if I could go the distance
That's just the work, regardless of who's listening, listening ...
Make the money, don't let the money make you
Change the game, don't let the game change you
I'll forever remain faithful
All my people stay true"

I got orange pilled during the pandemic.
We had one of the longest lockdowns and I saw the amount of time my husband spent learning BTC. He stopped playing WoW and I was seriously concerned. There was nowhere to go, and I had to listen to my maxi husband every day. I was incredibly annoyed and honestly thought he went crazy. That was a real test of our values, alignment and my critical thinking. Eventually we got married and had a kid (I previously did not want kids). So it all worked out, but it took a looooong time. I always wonder what if pandemic did not happen? Will I ever get Bitcoin? I don’t know. I hope it works out for the best for you. The other person must be ready and open - forcing it pushes people away. I heard ‘Bitcoin is like a mirror. Not everyone likes what they see.’

The saying ‘Money doesn’t grow on trees’ popped into my head.
I got curious of the origin and although I could not find the definitive source, the broad explanation reads ‘it comes from the simple idea that unlike fruit or leaves which grow naturally and can be picked easily, money is a limited resource that requires effort and work to earn.’
Funny that if money grew on trees, it would actually be a better alternative to fiat. At least there is some natural force behind the creation. Hmmmmmm….

Only after teaching bitcoin fundamentals to non-coiners, I started seeing where my gaps are. If you can't explain it, you don't really get it.
For a while, I kept my mouth shut and brought up the subject occasionally and very cautiously. I felt like I did not earn the right to teach. I was afraid to sound stupid, crazy or cult-ish. I was on the receiving end a lot, and I know how it feels.
One personal analogy I use, is learning bitcoin is like learning a new language. I can't start speaking fluently to you without basic understanding of grammar and set of vocabulary. You will be overwhelmed, and it will get over your head. One must put the work, learn ABCs, build the vocabulary and practice .... and the crazy part is, you will never fully perfect it. There is always more to learn.

Born and raised in Kazakhstan and still have most of my family there. I lived in Canada for 18 years and what an interesting and drastic shift... Although this sounds positive directionally for Kaz, the power is highly centralized and the rule of law is still very weak there. Regular people will not feel or see the benefit. Grass roots education and self custody is of utmost importance. Not your keys, not your coins.

2025-12-15 12:53:31 UTC

Class of 2021 here. Haven't been to the moon or experienced a gut wrenching free fall. I became a mom, so my income and mental state were not rock solid, to put in mildly. That journey in itself defined new highs and incredible lows. And of course, at times when I had disposable income, BTC always hit new ATH.
WTF!? I thought sometimes. When is it my turn to go the moon? 😉 Where is that god candle thingy?
If I did not understand fundamentals and if I stopped learning, I would have been long lost in the noise, politics or some other 'cutting edge' empty promise. My returns are far from great, but my gains worth a lot more than % and $. The hope, freedom and peace of mind - you can't put a price on that.

A beautiful story about adoption and getting someone off zero. In the past I resorted to either bribing/forcing others by gifting them sats. I also tried to engage in a very long process of gentle probing, hinting and philosophical discussions to point them in the right direction. Occasionally, I lost patience and turned to more aggressive borderline toxic ‘have fun being poor’ type of tactics. Not good. This is one of the best ways: non-threatening, engaging and respectful.
