> Congrats, your node now costs an extra AWS subscription and your “neutral” take costs the rest of us actual decentralization.
Using OP_RETURN instead of inscriptions makes blocks smaller and a win for decentralisation.

The Humble Administrator’s Garden in Suzhou, now a UNESCO World Heritage Site, was built over 16 years starting in 1513 by Wang Xianchen.
After his death, his son inherited the garden — and quickly lost it to gambling.
A Chinese proverb captures this: 富不过三代 — “Wealth doesn’t last beyond three generations.”
How do Bitcoiners plan to break this cycle and preserve generational wealth?

Yes, it's on signet, and on mainnet in a private alpha. The video I shared is using Ark mainnet sending funds to my mainnet Phoenix wallet.

ARK is a new type of Layer 2 protocol with the UX of E-Cash but non-custodial. When it was announced first in 2023 it was clear that it would require a soft fork like CTV to even work though. Now 2 years later it's here live on Bitcoin mainnet, without the need for a new soft fork at all.
And with the interoperability with Lightning it will create some interesting wallets and new use cases.

Been trying out what might be among the world's first ARK transactions on Bitcoin mainnet.
Here I send some sats from the @ArkLabs wallet to my Phoenix wallet (using a LN swap).
Bullish!

Bitcoin is the best asset in the world to invest in.
Humans are natural hoarders and collectors, drawn to things that are scarce—whether trading cards, paintings, or watches. However, all of these can be reproduced, and they are inherently illiquid.
Bitcoin, on the other hand, is the first and only asset that is truly scarce and fully liquid and with a fixed monetary supply that no one controls, making it inherently desirable.
Over time, as its value stabilizes, Bitcoin will likely become the foundational money for global trade.

With mempool/electrs as backend you don't need txindex. But with romanz/electrs you do because electrs will only be used for address lookups.

You need to run a separate Bitcoin Core node and use that as a minfee node. In the backend settings you can add the credentials to the second Core node.

I made a simple Fiat/BTC/Sats calculator.
Some issues with existing ones include that your data is sent to a backend instead of being converted locally, the inability to easily copy and paste, and the readability issue that arises from not being able to see the exact amount due to the non-display of all eight decimal points.

That Pixel 8 will be one hand sized, similar to the current Pixel 6a/7a. That and simply being a Pixel.

Pixel 8 will be the best Android phone ever made.

2023-06-13 12:00:46 UTC

So glad I sold my iPhone and got back to the Pixel. Apple products have for long been hostile to Bitcoin and dectralized systems in general. It started when Apple banned all Bitcoin apps many years ago. Currently on an iPhone when you click or scan a Bitcoin QR code you can't even select which wallet you want to use.
Happy Amethyst user now.

In 2 years from now on this day (estimated) the Bitcoin block reward will go from 6.25 to 3.125 BTC and the yearly inflation rate will go from ~1.8% to ~0.9%.
