I have installed four (4) GUI apps onto my new work laptop with Wayland because I'm on a Wayland project, and of them two are already being fucked with by Wayland (Wayland renders Emacs wrong, resulting in half the info bar being off-screen, and Mumble push to talk is impossible)
it's impressive how useless it is

I don't look at lyrics, I expected a while ago that I would eventually be able to start understanding more obscure lyrics and didn't want to take that discovery away, and all of a sudden it is starting to come to me

@grips so after listening to Amon Amarth's earlier works, I can instead of two words in the whole song, now understand a bit over half of The Werewolf's Tale, something about two natures in conflict and the momentary victory of one in its element. it's crazy that black metal actually has lyrics.

holy shit it took the gniggers until 2025 to realise you can check $HOME first, then afterwards if nothing was there check XDG dirs. real advanced stuff that takes a decade of discussion to figure out, hopefully in another decade someone can write the dozen lines of code it would take to actually do this

what makes one's value system flawed if it explicitly rather than implicitly expresses someone's preferences and interests?

Actually it's very valid to have outgroups, to not do so is foolish. The greatest good to the greatest number (of my kind).

I'm an emotivist, not a relativist.
You rightoids just can't separate belief from truth. If you believe in something, it's 'objectively' true. If you don't believe in something, it's 'objectively' false.
Retardation is what it is. You can accept that something is subjective and also believe in it. To demand it must be objective is stupid and dangerous.
Like what you said at the end. According to which criteria? If solely on the basis of contending with a proud man who doesn't know or care what words mean, then he is objectively disruptive and willfully stupid, things which I and anyone I'd want to speak to would consider to be bad things.

That would have been despite, not because of Christianity. The same faith that considered the earth orbiting the sun to be a heresy is the beacon of truth?

Lots of bluffing but no demonstration of anything.
In problems we can verify, materialism provides not just answers but constantly vindicated *predictions*. But in problems we can't verify, idealism is somehow magically true.

So in the end you are declaring observation and making things up to be equal in value. You could've just said so from the start when I rejected this premise.
That's ironically an even more nihilistic position than nihilism is itself.

Even if it's inadequate to determine purpose it's no better to plug that gap by making something up.
That there is something beyond the day-to-day is the original point of contention after all.
