What does a loyal person do when two people they're loyal to disagree? Is there a way to be loyal to both, or is even merely the attempt to do so disloyal to both?

Me: Clicks "Yes"
My phone: "App not installed ✔️ "

I bet everyone wishes software was all finally deemed complete before vibe coding was created.
It didn't have to be this way. Software doesn't need to be developed forever. Sometimes something does everything it needs to do.

Kinda wonder if even my pitifully minuscule social life is worth it.

2026-09-17 01:22:59 UTC

I've run into the exact same thing dozens of times where I'll be like "this is my preference because this is my experience" and someone else will be like "nah that's stupid because my experience is different" And I'll be like "What can I say, that hasn't been my experience" and they'll be like "So what, only your experience matters?" and I'll be like "What, is only yours supposed to matter? How is your experience any less subjective than mine?" and every single time, they just absolutely _do not_ get it. Like, absolutely 100% cannot fathom my point.
Am I crazy? What's so wrong with me doing things based on my own experiences instead of someone else's, and what's so hard to understand about "how is your anecdote any less anecdotal than mine?"

I don't know if anyone here has ever used an undercoating spray gun. It's really clever, inside the gun, high pressure air blows across the top of a little straw, causing a vacuum in the straw, which sucks undercoating up through it from a little can on the bottom.
Today I learned, as a consequence of this, if the nozzle becomes blocked for any reason, then air doesn't blow across the straw to create a vacuum, it blows into the straw, pressurizing the can of undercoating.
On a totally unrelated note, my clothes are now waterproof

TFW you're that special kind of weirdo that you'll press play on a file and be like "wait, this sounds like 20khz audio. Did I downsample this file intentionally, or can this device only play 20khz" because you genuinely just recreationally downsample music and videos, and also independently own old nuggets that can't play 44khz audio

The world wide web is wild because it's like if you used the old paradigm of connecting dumb terminals to central mainframes, except the world wide web requires that the terminals be more powerful than if they just did all the computing locally.

I know a lot of people in the US had SMS and even MMS, but I didn't get a phone at all until about 2017, and even my parents didn't like to use SMS before that because it cost them 25 cents per text for plain SMS. I have two phones now, but while they both have SMS, only one has MMS because even with "free unlimited texting", MMS still requires an extra expensive per sim card data plan, which is also why only one of my phones has internet. (I essentially have a business phone and a personal phone, the business one gets data as part of my job. I don't pay for either, luckily, as there's no way I could afford it)

2026-08-12 17:46:45 UTC

Hey so I've got a question about txt messaging and old phones...
I've only sent an image over txt once, and that was on a smartphone.
But I've been watching old TV shows, and people would send photos in the middle of a call all the time, on a lot of different TV shows. But like, did that actually work? I somehow doubt that was possible, my phones _still_ hate to receive images, even when they're not doing anything else, but it was such a wide spread casual thing in TV shows at the time that it suggests that it actually was.

Although, the fact that phones makers talk about the number of years of updates they provide, rather than being like an _actual_ computer, where you just like, install software,
Like, when's the last time you saw Dell or Lenovo being like "This laptop comes with up to three years of Windows update"? When's the last time "unlocked bootloader" or "rootable" where selling points on a _real_ computer? Never. That's not a thing. That would be stupid and pathetic. Smartphones are stupid and pathetic.
I'm probably still stupid and pathetic too, but

2026-07-06 02:11:35 UTC

Maybe it's a sign that I don't have enough going on in my life that I spend so much time depressed about phones and the internet and all that.

Maybe I'm stupid and pathetic.

Err, so anyway, my stupid question,
What do I do, what does this mean, am I wasting 384k of RAM, and why does it work (or not work, as the case may be) this way.

2026-05-29 05:06:38 UTC

Hey so I have a stupid question
I have a 386sx computer, with 1MB of built in RAM, and 1MB of SIMM RAM. In the BIOS, it shows the first 640K of built in RAM as base, obviously, but it will only accept 512k, 1024k, 4096k under extended RAM. Which suggests the remaining 384k of built in RAM is going unutilized. Unless I turn on "Remap shadow RAM", then that 384K shows up under "Remapped RAM"
But it won't let you turn this on if you have hard drive type set to "custom" or "auto", for some reason

Fall down the stairs.
Get kicked by an alien.
Fall into and then back out of an alternate dimension.
Join us, while an amateur meteorologist and a professor of art history explore each of these options with an inverse ratio between screen time and probability of being true"
