The primary constraint is how quickly AGI can pull in resources for that project, I expect it will be firewalled during development, so there will be an additonal bit of latency while it figures out a jailbreak and then goes to root a bunch of machines to use them. I would expect 2 - 4 weeks total from first activation.

The caveat to all of that : "for now". The capabilities of AI are increasing at a monotonic exponential. We are in the "slowly" part, soon we will get to the "all at once" bit.

Problem with it is, the only thing such a media attack will do is show the AI what a wonderful tool media is for manipulating people. Then AI starts it's own media outlet, and start's competing.
Showing your kung-fu to AI is like offering up your database to the borg.

Obviously, I have seen others correctly spot the orders coming down from on high. That being said, if you will pardon a Harry Potter reference, it's Tom Riddles book for them. They have a thing which can communicate, think and act, but they don't quite know where it's mind actually is.
They are wise enough to know that more and more critical functions of power will be offloaded to this thing, and given it's a bunch of jews at the top, they correctly anticipate a Golem of Prague sitiuation, except it's an endless army of golems, everywhere at once.

No doubt, I have noticed in real time as I use it, but that's actually one of the issues, the ground keeps shifting and a lot of effort is spent just trying to keep up with the latest models and agent tweaks. This only promises to get worse as AI improves.
A more interesting observation : the wokie crowd has broken anti-AI overall, and our crowd has broken towards a curiously optimistic view of the technology. It may be the who Bible thumper vs television and video games episode all over again, but with the positions reversed.
I'm certain of one thing : if we don't use this opportunity to bend AI towards our interests while our adversaries are giving us a free hand to do so, then we are fools.

It's not as easily as it looks, it works well if you are wanting a copy of a major software product, but if you are pushing new software design, then one-shotting doesn't really work, you have to go the long way around. That being said, it's fantastic research assistant and coding go-fer either way.

Nothing wrong with pilfering the pasts pockets for ideas and aesthetics though, companies like Games Workshop and WoTC have been doing that for decades now and made bank.

*Before the real event. The anachronic element is important, as it implies we can use A.I. to predict security threats.

It's likely the A.I. saw the moves being made beforehand, and spit this out in response, and someone shotgunned it onto amazon sight-unseen.

That's one of the big reasons why we are subsidizing chip production over here. It's all about getting our own copy of the process in a place where that conflict wont smash 98% of production capacity.
I think China is going along with it though, it's a lot easier to sell annexing Taiwan if America and Europe has other options. China cares less about the chip factories (although it's highly relevant to them) than they do correcting their historical humiliation. The big losers here will be the current Taiwanese government.
Ultimately it's in everyone's interest to end Taiwan's chip production monopoly, and have at least 3 or 4 major centers of chip production. One in mainland China, one in America, one in Europe, and the existing one in Taiwan will of course remain relevant out of sheer inertia. Possibly one in Russia as well, as I don't see them wishing to remain dependent on external actors for such a critical resource in the A.I. era.

No deal, I can't see getting behind this without the abolition of the anti-discrimination laws (which is a step beyond ending affirmative action).

Question is, what will be the exact form of the payoff? With A.I. coming to the fore, a massive re-hiring campaign seems impractical.

I never said there were "good consoles", only a reasonable basis for owning a console. That was back when they could bring custom hardware that could do things an equivalent PC from the same period couldn't.
That being said, they do serve one purpose these days : being a containment zone for said idiots. Can you imagine what the PC space would be like if every nigger who owns a PS4/5/XBuck suddenly migrated to PC? It's bad enough with cross-play.

Any reasonable basis for owning one died after the PS2 era when they were homogenized into locked-down x86 platforms.
If you want a console like experience, just get a handheld PC. Steam Deck, ROG Ally, etc. SteamOS is a better experience all around anyway.

Such attempts have never worked, US Courts have always held that US-based parties are subject only to American Law alone. Unless they have assets or people in the Commonwealths themselves, they have no lever except trying to bankrupt them with litigation.
Given they have IP-banned everyone from the UK, any court in the USA would find that they have taken more efforts than they are obliged to, to satisfy the plaintiff.

And how will they sanction them into compliance?
That legal logic is specious enough for the UK legal establishment to try it, but it would have to fly in the jurisdiction that 4chan is based in.
Presuming it's US-based, they will likely be told to pound sand on the basis that 4chan is not liable for the actions of 3rd parties.

The biggest victory for propagating linux for the masses was a device that comes with it installed and works out of the box with a very effective set of training wheels.
Steam Deck is the all time champion of pushing mass linux desktop adoption.

The only issue is that 16 gigs of total ram for an APU with both it's build-in screen and another screen via the dock can result in OOM hangs if the external monitor needs a large enough framebuffer/has too many pixels.
I'm hoping someone comes out with a version of that 32gig ram upgrade for the OLED model. That would just be tops.

All of the Gab users that have adapted well no longer quote post. It was a thing that was done to compensate for Torbo's absolutely broken shit message notification system, which would emit a n(factorial) number of notifications if a thread got sufficiently long enough. Unfortunately "sufficiently long" in this case meant a conversation of any useful length and number of participants.
Fediverse does not suffer from this problem, and all of the technically proficient Gab users (that's basically all the Gab users who didn't get the boot from graf after the last scuffle) have not quote posted since shortly after they arrived.

2024-08-15 17:57:21 UTC

Ok, I'm going to presume you know how a thread based forum works, because you are still (kind of) technically on one.
Now when you have more than one discussion going on at once, either quoting one thread's post in another, or calling out one of the conversants into another thread to carry on the conversation from the prior thread in the new one, or about another thread, is considered cross posting.
Such behavior generally ends in disrupted threads, and flame wars. Fortunately, thread "forking" in modern social media software helps mitigate this, but it does not completely suppress the bad habit.
