The fall of @npub1gdu…6nak has been bizarre to watch. For three years he said nothing about spam, not even at the height of the spam war. Now he's suddenly up in arms against accounts with 50 followers, recycling the same strawmen the coretards have used all along.
https://image.nostr.build/6a39be522b1cc5840e69fc26fbe4c639a206bb26073079d18ad4c6d0e3fc22a1.jpg
His sound money crusade looks hollow now. Nothing about Spamcoin resembles sound money anymore, but I suppose a big audience buys more books.
Remember when Taleb argued Bitcoin's fundamental value was zero, and that it fails as a currency? Five years later, is making the same case. Funny how that works.
https://image.nostr.build/ff9a43d7293e36880f6416bf8ce78a996aea61de26c3c2bc1a08e6943f560d55.jpg
So here's a pitch for his next book: “Captured Protocols”. Get Saylor to write the foreword, then spend a few hundred pages explaining why the 5 pool nodes deciding what goes into 95% of blocks should care about thousands of plebs with 0.3 BTC each posting on Twitter, because that's how "Bitcoin" works.

People don't turn this dumb overnight. When someone flips this hard, this fast, it's fair to ask what changed in his incentives.

That’s why the likelihood of Bitcoin succeeding (in separating money from state) are very slim.
In 2010’s Satoshi post he was referring to miners. In 2010 miners and nodes were one and the same. At this time he didn’t predict the emergence of Stratum V1 and that it will lead to pool mining where nodes don’t construct their own blocks.

Miners don’t decide, unless they’re too big and too centralised. Case and point: the soft fork with version 29.4.2. The split resolved in a few hours, miners that didn’t update in time lost blocks to other miners that did update. This wouldn’t be possible on SHA256, even if was an emergency soft fork and everyone agreed that it’s not contentious.
On the other issue: full node is best, pruned node is a compromise but it’s still better than no node and using someone else’s to transact and validate your own balance.

I mean nodes on Blake2b. Running a node on SHA256 is indeed pointless, bortherline insane at this point.

2026-10-09 13:55:09 UTC

Public nodes should have never taken off in Bitcoin. A supposed 100 million people “own” BTC, yet only 100k of them interact with the network without trusted third parties. That’s a terrible trade-off. Literally the second sentence of the white paper warns against it.
If you don’t have 2 TB to spare for a full node, or don’t want to commit to running a server 24/7, a pruned node on your laptop is magnitudes better than a public node.
All you need is 40 GB of free disk space to get through the IBD, and then you can prune it down to around 4 GB. That’s the equivalent of an HD movie.
Just open any AI. If you’re on a Mac, open Terminal. If you’re on Windows, open PowerShell as administrator. Ask the clanker for the commands to run a pruned Knots node, give it the official website, and start copy-pasting. The AI will guide you through the entire process: downloading, syncing, verifying PGP keys, creating a GUI on your desktop, configuring the node to start automatically, connecting to your wallet, everything.
You can be a complete technical bozo and still pull this off in an hour or two. Just try it.

Our chain has adopted BIP-110 plus a temporary 300KB block size decrease. Mining is already magnitudes more decentralised than on Suitcoin.
I wish BIP-110 had been adopted on BTC too, but ignoring it has actually exposed just how bad things really were. Nodes stopped mattering around 2015, and we’re only realising it now. The 2017 Independence Day was really a psyop.

Selling bitcoin to cover mining costs is opaque. You sell fiat to cover the electricity bill and get rewarded with harder money.
People who have to sell their bitcoin to cover mining costs are doing essentially two things: putting downward pressure on the price, thereby hurting their own bottom line; and, most likely, scaling their operations with debt, which makes the whole thing even worse.
You essentially become a dirty speculator who is simply hoping for NGU to squeeze out 3% net profit, until a sudden sell-off hits, you get margin called, and eventually end up broke or bankrupt.
That kind of “mining” looks a hell of a lot more like day trading. With leverage.
This is why I support the 1-year coinbase maturity extension. It basically says: if you want to mine, you must be willing to hold.

Suitcoin is a joke and quite ironically all the nutty uncle fudsters and gold bugs turned out to be “right” about it. It’s decentralised in name only, just as any other shitcoin. You can download and compile pretty much anything from GitHub, verify PGP signatures, and make your own custom settings. And AI makes all of this accessible now.
You can be a non-technical power user without paying someone else a dime to teach you. Wild times.

Things are going pretty well actually. Maybe you haven’t paid any attention. Alphapool stopped his attack and started cooperating. A few shitcoin miners abandoned mining after the SF (about 1.5 PH/s, which is nothing). Block construction looks better than before the soft fork and consensus is gathering for extending the maturity to 1 year. Basically all of the optimistic expectations for the fork matherialised.
