A study is reported that examines the effect of caffeine consumption on majority and minority influence. In a double blind procedure, 72 participants consumed an orange drink, which either contained caffeine (3.5mg per kilogram of body weight) or did not (placebo). After a 40-minute delay, participants read a counter-attitudinal message (antivoluntary euthanasia) endorsed by either a numerical majority or minority. Both direct (message issue, i.e., voluntary euthanasia) and indirect (message issue-related, i.e., abortion) change was assessed by attitude scales completed before and after exposure to the message. In the placebo condition, the findings replicated the predictions of Moscovici's (1980) conversion theory; namely, majorities leading to compliance (direct influence) and minorities leading to conversion (indirect influence). When participants had consumed caffeine, majorities not only led to more direct influence than in the placebo condition but also to indirect influence. Minorities, by contrast, had no impact on either level of influence. The results suggest that moderate levels of caffeine increase systematic processing of the message but the consequences of this vary for each source. When the source is a majority there was increased indirect influence while for a minority there was decreased indirect influence. The results show the need to understand how contextual factors can affect social influence processes.

caffeine is actually a very screwy drug. it's an analgesic and a stimulant. it fucks up your sleep for weeks, the first 4 days after cessation it lowers the pain threshold not unlike opiates. it makes you talkative and impatient, and it also increases muscle signalling and that also takes a month to return to normal as you are weaker for the same period as it takes for sleep to return to normal.

i've been wanting out of the caffeine cycle practically since i first started drinking V energy drinks while working at a government office.

So, everyone knows caffeine makes you pee more and often, more smelly. But it also increases pain sensation. The effect gets more intense over about 2 days after but it's always there.
in my situation wit a big broken bone healing that's a really good reason to stop. After tomorrow, pain will hurt less. It also directly irritates bladder muscles similar to but not as intensely as nicotine.
the pain though. I can see that being a reason to never take it. I'll drink a tea occasionally to honor a host but only one. i am not having my pain threshold lowered. That's just stupid.

i have coined an expression "convergence field" for situations where a massive seemingly coordinated action can occur, without having extensive control systems guiding it. incentives is a term that is bandied around a lot by bitcoiners that relates to this. there is opportunities, there is incentives, and there is cover for the case of it being a criminal enterprise. 9-11 is an example of this, there is actually a dozen separate distinct conspiracies at play there, without any direct connection between all of them. the main things that play out have to do with the benefits. media gets ratings and clicks. insiders get kickbacks. some got the benefit of cover for losing a huge insurance liability. some got political cover for vindictive, intrusive escalation of government surveillance powers and unchecked licence to initiate military action, it benefited airports as well, and border police, and all the many other parties whose benefit came from 9-11. pandemic was the same. maybe some small conspiracies numerous in number but not connected.

yeah, nostr needs a credible upgrade. one where a proper HD keychain enables revocation and doesn't put the master revocation key pubkey all over the place, just one signed revocation that once you publish it it advances your identity using an xpub and everyone can find it automatically because it's an xpub, but it's down stream of the HD path. that would fix that entire problem in one fell swoop. put bip-39 word key on the seed and it's a memorisable keylock and an extension or native app bunker style signer becomes viable. for native apps, that bunker can have localhost access, the web app path unfortunately that's complete bullshit and crap that you can't work around (the evryfing must be SSSLLL bullshit).

yes, ok, those 3 things fixed and it's alright. everything else is just a matter of client and relay stuff. i mean, auth is required. you can have subscriptions that let you open protocol message tunnels already, that's what bunkers already are, they could be a path to location concealment with the use of nwc and keysend. running relays is trivial, there could be dozens if not hundreds of nostr relay hosting services that you can just throw a few dollars a month and badabing badaboom you have your own trustworthy or more trustworthy rendezvous points that get around the CGNAT cage of the modern "users can't run servers" dictum that is maintained mainly by fucking mobile phone company lobbies.
