On one hand this is surprising but then again it kind of is not 🤔🤡
Does anyone has details on that?
Like is this possible because it's like swapping coins into Monero immediately out again (so Monero can't really obfuscate anything) or is it the low volume/TX count on Zcash?
I mean I would've expected that the ZK tech of Zcash makes this kind of tracing impossible 🤔

You really are running a challenge to make people not accept Monero as a payment method, don't you? 😂

Yeah man, it's crazy! The SSD I bought was $262 now costs $626 and the RAM was 336, which now costs fucking 2633! 🤯
And this was about a year ago.

If I can pay with XMR I think that would be interesting (as one can just create a new Nostr key for retrieving the card) 🤔 Let's do it! 🔥

While I appreciate your explanation, I have to push back on one false claim:
The inflation rate will NOT drop below 0.1% after a few years. Usually we measure the inflation rate p.a. (per year). The current rate sits at 0.838% p.a. and the 0.1% p.a. inflation rate will only be reached in about 881 years!

Just do it. I was vegan for a few years. Then I had problems and now I'm basically carnivore and feel much better.
But don't trust a stranger on the internet. Do your own research and try it for yourself. You can do it.

Yes, Tailscale is always turned on on my phone. My Moneronode isn't the only service my phone wants a permanent connection to.

What's wrong with firewall punching? I don't see how Tailscale (in combination with Headscale) for example isn't the perfect way to connect to a trusted node? 🤔

2026-09-15 01:18:26 UTC

- reply

I heavily disagree here. The correct way forward is to increase privacy with clients connecting to a potential malicious node and reducing the potential impact the bad node could have.
Making connecting to a node harder isn't a great way to adoption.
Have sane defaults for normies and the potential for pros to perfect their privacy needs.

2026-09-14 22:27:52 UTC

- reply

It should NOT!
I'm connecting to my own node via a direct vpn connection. I really don't understand why I should slow down my connection to my node using Tor/I2P.
Also for friends and family that can also connect to my node via VPN it's the same logic.
I do not understand why anyone would connect to his own node via TOR/I2P.
For use with an unknown remote node, yes then I understand it.

I honestly think Monero is nicer to handle than self-custodial LN, but you might be more skilled/capable than me.
And yes Monero UX still has some rough edges, but I hope that the synching complains are gone after the FCMP++ upgrade.

The "🤯 maximalism" was about the amount of people voting against it.
I still don't get how anyone could seriously call Monero a shitcoin.

Holy shit, that level of blind maximalism 🤯🙈
Also if you're a merchant and you're NOT accepting Monero, you're missing out 🤷‍♂️

I had the same thought, but then I discovered Headscale. It allows you to host the central control server of your tailnet yourself.
I'm now running the Headscale server for some time now and really can't complain!

Not every 'we/us' has a socialist connotation.
For talking about things it can be useful to group certain people/users by similar usage of stuff etc. No need to freak out about that.
Also funnily enough Monero is currently a better SoV than BTC ;)

First off, those are MULTIPLE links to different services that publish their payment numbers (your answer seemed like you only read one).
Second I only quickly checked ShopinBit's officially reported numbers and there peak was ~$1.7M in 2024 for ShopinBit and ~$1.1M for ShopinBit EU.
So yes, obviously this is a very limited dataset. Not a lot of corporations are publishing their krypto sales data sadly and probably none of those does like $100M+ revenue a year but it nevertheless shows that Monero gets definitely used outside of darknet markets on normal everyday/legal stuff.

Do you actually believe that? 👀
I don't think I can currently check/verify how Blackrock's money flows (or the government's etc).
And in Monero you CAN proof that you did a TX and you CAN give other people a viewkey to a wallet, so that they can verify what money flows into a wallet.
With BTC you have no choice but to be completely transparent. The slightest error and all of your privacy efforts get erased.

2026-09-09 10:46:53 UTC

You might not know that, but the transactions that create new XMR are not hidden, so you can just sum up all of those coinbase TX and validate the current Monero supply.
